WATCH: Arizona Police Officer Charged With Eight Felony Sex Crimes

An Arizona police officer is facing a slew of felony sex crime charges in California.

Jared Elkins, a 33-year-old officer with the Yuma Police Department, was charged with eight counts — including forcible rape, rape of an intoxicated person, forcible oral copulation and sexual penetration by use of force — for an alleged incident in San Diego, KGTV reported.

Elkins on Monday pleaded not guilty to the charges, according to KUSI.

Authorities on Sept. 14 responded to a Kensington home after receiving a phone call from the 23-year-old victim’s mother. She claimed in the 4 a.m. call that the Yuma officer had raped her daughter.

When they arrived, the victim was visibly intoxicated to the point where Elkins should have known she was unable to give consent, according to court documents.

At the time of the incident, the officer was off-duty, authorities confirmed. The relationship between Elkins and the woman is currently unknown.

Elkins, who has been married since 2013 is a seven-year veteran with the Yuma police department. He was placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the trial, and was released on $250,000 the day after his arrest.

He’s slated to return to court for a preliminary hearing on March 22. If convicted, Elkins faces up to 16 years behind bars.

Filming Cops was started in 2010 as a conglomerative blogging service documenting police abuse. The aim isn’t to demonize the natural concept of security provision as such, but to highlight specific cases of State-monopolized police brutality that are otherwise ignored by traditional media outlets.
