Dothan, Alabama – A former Dothan police officer is headed to trial on three felony charges following his most recent indictment for having sex with students.
34-year old Adrian Alexander Folmar’s first two arrests came last December. Then, he was arrested in February for fondling another student. Folmar is charged with violating Alabama’s School Employee Sex laws.
The School Employee Sex Law prohibits school employees from having sex with students who are younger than 19 even if the acts are consensual. Police say the girls Folmer molested were 14 and 17 years old.
Folmar isn’t the only local teacher charged under the law. Lanice Bonds, also a Dothan High resource officer, served a portion of a 10-year prison sentence after pleading guilty in 2014. He was recently paroled.
In the first case in the state after the law was enacted, Rehobeth teacher Robert Lee Michael received a 36 year sentence for violating the School Sex law and other crimes and is still in prison.
