Brooklyn Correction Officer Repeatedly Raped Female Inmate

A federal correction officer repeatedly raped a Brooklyn inmate and even threatened to throw her in solitary confinement if she ratted him out, the woman testified on Tuesday.

“I was raped,” the woman, identified only as Maria, told the Brooklyn federal courtroom before bursting into tears.

Prosecutors said in their opening statements that Carlos Martinez, a lieutenant at the Metropolitan Detention Center, violated the woman from December 2015 to April 2016.

“I didn’t want any problems. I was a prisoner. He was a big boss,” the woman testified. “I could be sent to [solitary confinement].”

Maria, 31, claimed Martinez told her not to tell anyone.

She was behind bars after pleading guilty to drug trafficking in 2013. Martinez’s attorney, Anthony Ricco, told the court the woman accused his client after she was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Filming Cops was started in 2010 as a conglomerative blogging service documenting police abuse. The aim isn’t to demonize the natural concept of security provision as such, but to highlight specific cases of State-monopolized police brutality that are otherwise ignored by traditional media outlets.
