Cop Charged With Four Counts of Rape Involving Mentally Disabled Woman

05/05/17

MICHIGAN CITY, IND — A now-former police officer has been arrested on four counts of rape.

Each of the four charges is a level three felony.

Officer Thomas K. Jackson was accused of raping a woman who had a mental disability such that she was not able to give consent.

Multiple reports state that the woman had “diminished mental capacities.”

An investigation was conducted into Officer Jackson’s activity, soon after which he is said to have resigned from his position in the Michigan City Police Department.

A La Porte County Circuit Court Judge found probable cause for the charges against Officer Jackson and issued a warrant for his arrest.

The very next morning, Officer Jackson was arrested in front of a convenience store, according to reports.

Officer Jackson is being held on $25,000 bail.
