A 37-year-old African American woman has been killed after an incident during which police slammed her head on the concrete.
The killing occurred outside of her family’s residence.
Tanisha Anderson was pronounced dead at Cleveland Clinic, her brother reported.
The pronouncement was made approximately two hours after police performed a “take down” on Anisha which caused her skull to be bashed into the concrete.
“They killed my sister,” said Joell Anderson, the victim’s brother, in tears.
“I watched it.”
Tanisha was bi-polar and a family member called officers for help during a domestic argument. The death was the last thing they expected when they called.
Tanisha was supposed to receive evaluation at a medical facility, but she didn’t want to after the police handcuffed her.
Apparently the officers made it known that the decision was up to them, not her.
The officers placed her in the backseat of a vehicle, which made her nervous due to being confined in a small space while restrained. It was at this point that she made an attempt to get out.
What happened next was tragic.
According to reports, an officer used a martial arts “take down” after smothering her head in the backseat.
When she was taken down, her head slammed into the pavement.
Her brothers says that after her head made impact, the cop then drove his knee into her back, and that was the last time she even opened her eyes.
Making matters even worse, Joell says that his sister’s dress was hiked above her waste as she laid dying, and the police officers refused to render aid while she was exposed on the ground.
Joell eventually placed his own jacket over his sister’s lower body.
Medical personnel examined Tanisha and ruled that her death was the result of a homicide.
Legal experts have compared her death to Eric Garner’s death, an innocent father who died after police put him in a chokehold — his last words were “I can’t breathe.”
