Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputy Charged With Sexual Assault

FRANKLIN COUNTY, IL — A former Franklin County Sheriff’s deputy has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman.

Franklin County Sheriff Don Jones says on January 16, 2016, Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputy Christopher Hampton allegedly sexually assaulted a woman. The victim was allegedly arrested on an unrelated matter.

Jones says he was notified the same day and put Hampton on administrative leave. He then asked the Illinois State Police to conduct a criminal investigation. Hampton resigned from his position after the investigation was started.

On Thursday, Hampton was arrested at his Mulkeytown home. He was charged with criminal sexual assault and custodial sexual misconduct. He is being held in the Franklin County Jail on a $150,000 bond.

Filming Cops was started in 2010 as a conglomerative blogging service documenting police abuse. The aim isn’t to demonize the natural concept of security provision as such, but to highlight specific cases of State-monopolized police brutality that are otherwise ignored by traditional media outlets.
