Indiana State Police Officer Jack R. Hewitt Arrested for Sexual Battery & Misconduct With a Minor

An Indiana State Police officer resigned Thursday and was arrested for allegations of sexual battery and sexual misconduct with a minor.

Jack R. Hewitt, 54, Greensburg, was arrested as the result of a state police investigation that began Aug. 9 after ISP was notified of the allegations by another law enforcement officer, according to a news release.

Police say he was placed on paid administrative leave the day the investigation began.

He resigned Thursday and was arrested around 3:30 p.m. at the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office.

Hewitt joined the state police in December 1998, according to the release, and was most recently assigned to the ISP post in Versailles. Prior to these allegations, Hewitt had no record of disciplinary history with ISP.

Police did not release additional information regarding the nature of the allegations or further details of the investigation.

As of Thursday night, he was being held in the Decatur County Jail.
