Kansas School Resource Officer Faces Additional Sex Crime Charges

LINN COUNTY, Kansas – A former Linn County school resource officer accused of having sex with a student now faces more charges.
David Huggins, 45, appeared in court Tuesday on what was supposed to be his preliminary hearing in a case that got him fired from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office and as a school resource officer with the Pleasanton School District.
Investigators had previously charged Huggins with aggravated indecent liberties with a child and sexual exploitation of a child. But, the judge read two new charges against him on Tuesday alleging while on house arrest with a GPS tracking device he met up with a girl between the age of 14 and 16 years old for sex.
Huggins is now charged with two additional felony counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and intercourse with a child between the age of 14 and 16.
The judge agreed with the prosecutor’s request for a $1 million bond. The two cases will now be combined.
Huggins is due back in court on March 9.
