Klamath County Sheriff’s Deputy Pleads Guilty to Groping Minor

Rafael Manzo

Oregon – A Klamath County Sheriff’s deputy has lost his badge after being convicted of groping an underage victim.

Rafael Manzo, 37, of Klamath Falls, was required to surrender his law enforcement credentials after pleading guilty Oct. 24 to third-degree sex abuse for offenses against a minor victim last year.

Court records said Manzo groped the victim’s buttocks during November of 2016. The age and gender of the victim was not detailed by the court, neither was Manzo’s relationship to the victim.

Sheriff’s Office officials could not be reached for comment Thursday to confirm if the offenses occurred while Manzo was on duty.

Manzo was sentenced to 12 months of probation with multiple conditions including 200 hours of community service, a $2,000 fine and a ban against his use of intoxicants. Manzo must also register as a sex offender and may not associate with minors or frequent places where minors congregate.
