EVERETT, Wash. – A man who struggled with officers when he was arrested and later at the Snohomish County Jail died early Thursday morning in a restraint chair.
The Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team, which comprises detectives from several agencies, is investigating.
Authorities say Everett police arrested the man, 35 and from Everett, for attempted vehicle prowl and obstruction. He struggled with arresting officers.
At the jail he continued to resist. Jail medical staff tried to de-escalate the situation and monitor the man’s vital sings.
Jail staff used a Taser on him, but he continued to resist.
Authorities say he was then put in a restraint chair. He became non-responsive. Life-saving measures were used, 911 was called and Everett firefighters arrived and continued life-saving measures.
He was later pronounced dead.
