[WATCH] Bully Cop Trips and Shoves High School Girls After Soccer Game

Many have observed the bullying behavior that comes out when people are given a badge, uniform, and told they have special rights over everyone else. But sometimes we catch that overt bullying on video (scroll down for video).

No, we’re not talking about your every day police brutality against “suspects.” What we’re talking about here is a cop like Texas police officer George Bermudez, who was caught on video bullying: tripping girls, shoving and bear hugging people who had done nothing wrong.

It all started when Austin Vandegrift beat Wylie East 1-0 in the Texas girls division 4A soccer championship last Spring. Students stormed the field in celebration of the win, as often happens at such tournaments. But Officer George Bermudez was not very happy about the celebration.

Bermudez was caught on video by one fan, tripping and pushing the celebrating teens – mostly girls. The video was taken by 16-year-old Rohan Gupta, who said “he should’ve used better judgment.”

Gupta added, “We’re high-schoolers just trying to have some fun after our team won.”

A flood of complaints came in to the Georgetown Police Department following the uploading of the video to YouTube.

“After personally watching the videos, the actions of my officer are very concerning to me as well,” Georgetown Police Chief Wayne Nero said in a statement on the incident.

“There are times when we fail to get it right. When circumstances like these occur I simply ask, as would any Chief, for the public’s patience.”

Ironically, Officer Bermudez was named Georgetown’s ‘Officer of the Year’ just the year before.
