A man who said that he was a 30-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department this week confronted officers in Asheville, North Carolina after they declined to arrest a Donald Trump supporter who allegedly punched a 69-year-old woman in the face.

Shirley Teter, 69, said that she was protesting outside of Trump’s Monday event at the U.S. Cellular Center when a man punched her in the jaw. Although no arrests were made at the time, police later issued a warrant for Thomas Vellanti Jr.

Video released on Wednesday of the aftermath of the incident shows the former Chicago cop scolding younger Asheville policemen for letting Vellanti go.

“We did it right away, why don’t you?” the former officer says, explaining he was with the CPD for 30 years.

“You in Asheville!” an Asheville police officer shouts back. “We got it!”

“So what?” the ex-cop shrugs. “Act like real police because you’re not right now.”

“You’re not police officers,” he adds. “We would have had that guy out of here 15 minutes ago.”

As the Asheville officer continues to shout, a fellow officer eventually convinces him to walk away.

Filming Cops was started in 2010 as a conglomerative blogging service documenting police abuse. The aim isn’t to demonize the natural concept of security provision as such, but to highlight specific cases of State-monopolized police brutality that are otherwise ignored by traditional media outlets.
