Wisconsin State Trooper Sentenced to 3 Years For Possession of Child Porn

MADISON, Wis. – A former state trooper from Cambridge was sentenced Thursday on five counts of possession of child pornography in Jefferson County.

Frank Richard Torrez was charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography in February 2017. Torrez pleaded guilty to half of those counts in December.

Torrez was sentenced Thursday to three years in prison and five years of extended supervision, according to court documents.

According to a criminal complaint, Torrez was taken into custody after videos depicting children performing sex acts were found on electronic devices in his home. Torrez had been a state trooper since 1994 but resigned amid the allegations.

Torrez allegedly admitted to the possession of the devices and downloading the files, the complaint said. During the search, more than 80 digital storage devices were found in his home. A digital forensic examiner found dozens of videos of child porn on a storage drive.

Torrez was ordered Thursday to start the prison sentence immediately.
