Alabama Police Officer Charged With 2 Felony Crimes

Tony Noble Williams

Alabama – A Birmingham police officer was arrested late Friday after he was charged with two felony crimes.

The Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office issued warrants against Officer Tony Noble Williams for first-degree theft of property and ethics law violation, police said.

No details of his alleged crimes have been released. Jail records indicate the crimes happened March 14. Williams is assigned to the South Precinct.

Williams was booked into the Jefferson County Jail at 1:26 a.m. Saturday and released at 3:23 a.m. after posting $10,000 bond.

“The position of the Birmingham Police Department is, though an officer has been charged, they have not yet been found guilty,” Interim Police Chief Orlando Wilson said. “We want these charges to play out in court the same as it would for anyone else.”

Police said that is the only statement they will be releasing at this time.
