An off-duty ICE agent allegedly pepper-sprayed and pulled a gun on his girlfriend and another man Friday morning.
Kristian Perez, 36, a deportation officer with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in El Paso, is charged with on four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of assault.
Investigators said the incident started with a fight in a parking lot at Cincinnati Avenue and Stanton Street and ended on Interstate 10 and Paisano Drive.
Perez allegedly chased and tried to ram the vehicle occupied by his girlfriend and another man. A deputy constable pulled over both cars for driving recklessly.
The girlfriend and the other man told investigators Perez pepper-sprayed them and pulled a gun on them. Perez was arrested and booked in the El Paso County Jail.
In a statement, ICE said “the officer was placed on administrative duties in accordance with routine administrative practices, while awaiting further proceedings in his local case.” Perez is part of ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations.
