Paid Leave For Spartanburg County Deputy Charged With Domestic Violence

A Spartanburg County deputy charged with domestic violence Sunday has been placed on paid leave.

Cecil Byran Wilkins, 49, of Boiling Springs, was charged first-degree criminal domestic violence. He was booked into the Spartanburg County jail Sunday afternoon.

The State Law Enforcement Division investigated at the request of the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a domestic violence call at Wilkins’ home around 9:45 p.m. Saturday. The investigators then notified SLED.

A SLED arrest warrant states Wilkins assaulted the victim while armed with a firearm.

First-degree criminal domestic violence is a felony and can carry an up to a 10-year prison sentence.

Wilkins has been employed with the Sheriff’s Office for 27 years.

He was placed on administrative pending the outcome of an internal investigation and SLED’s criminal investigation.
