[WATCH] Ex-DA Investigator Pleads Guilty to Fatal Hit and Run Gets 2 to 6 Years in Prison

Syracuse, NY – A former Onondaga County District Attorney’s investigator will get no more than 2 to 6 years in prison after leaving the scene of a fatal pedestrian crash in April.

The final sentence will be up to County Court Judge Stephen Dougherty at sentencing Nov. 17.

Peter Rauch, 38, pleaded guilty to felony leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash and vehicular manslaughter after his county-owned Chevrolet Impala struck Seth Collier, 18, as he was walking in the 1400 block of North Salina Street at about 1:30 a.m. on March 21.

Collier died two days later.

For the first time today, Rauch was charged and pleaded guilty to killing Collier while intoxicated. He was not charged with drunken driving or any traffic-related offenses at the time of the crash.

Rauch left the scene of the accident and was not found for hours later in the village of Liverpool, sources said.

Rauch was fired as a DA’s office investigator and from his job with the Liverpool police after his arrest.

Under law, the maximum Rauch could have faced was 2 1/3 to 7 years for each of the crimes.#
