A Sandoval County, New Mexico deputy backed into and ran over a 68 year-old woman Thursday when he was leaving a residence to respond to another call.
NM state police said deputies were investigating a burglary alarm at a residence on Trial Road West in Placitas when they received a call for another residential alarm at a separate location, reported KOB4.
As the deputy was leaving, the “rear area of his vehicle apparently struck the pedestrian, knocking her down.” NMSP officers say Linda Baragiola was then “inadvertently” run over by the car’s right rear tire.
10-20% of all calls to police are alarm calls, and 94-99% of those are false alarms.
Baragiola was taken to UNM Hospital for her injuries but later died.
