WATCH: North Carolina Police Officer Arrested For Heroin Trafficking

NASH COUNTY, N.C. – A former police officer has been arrested on drug charges.

The Nash County Sheriff’s Office says that John Turner, 32, of Nashville, was arrested Tuesday and charged with trafficking heroin by possession, trafficking heroin by transport, trafficking heroin by delivery, and maintain vehicle for controlled substance.

The sheriff’s office says that Turner is a former Nashville police officer.

Investigators say on Tuesday they received information that Turner was in possession of 2 bricks or 100 dosage units of heroin. Turner was spotted driving a white Mercedes Benz in the Red Oak community and was pulled over by Tar River Regional Drug Task Force officers. A K-9 alert and further probable cause led to a search of the vehicle which found the heroin, according to deputies.

Also found were two empty bindles in Turner’s wallet along with a needle syringe in his sock, according to investigators.

Turner was given a $155,000 securd bond and has a first appearance scheduled for Thursday.
