Meet (now-former) police officer David Turkos.
Officer Turkos has been reported for sexually molesting two children from 2001 to 2008.
The boys testified that Officer Turkos threatened to harm their pets and their families if they ever told anyone.
They also said that Officer Turkos “bought them toys” after sexually abusing them.
Officer Turkos was also reportedly armed at the time, as the young boys stated that they knew he had a loaded gun.
Officials state that Officer Turkos raped the two boys, at times handcuffing them, beating them, and threatening to shoot them.
Officer Turkos was charged with three counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, two counts of indecent assault and one count of simple assault.
Officer Turkos can be freed on a mere $50k bail.
But it doesn’t end there.
Officer Turkos was also apprehended in March of 2008 after being reported for beating his wife and his stepson.
He was charged at that time with aggravated assault and harassment and two counts each of terroristic threats and simple assault, according to reports.
He then pleaded guilty to the counts of simple assault and harassment and received “probation” for six months, evidently being allowed to keep his job.
And just when you think these stacks of charges couldn’t get any worse, they do.
In February of 2009 Officer Turkos was again apprehended on reports that he masturbated in front of two children.
He was given only 6-12 months in a county lock-up on charges of “corruption of minors.”
We can’t help but wonder, will Officer Turkos eventually patrol the streets again, despite all of these charges?
Since he worked as a police officer, it’s completely within the realm of possibility.
As we are all aware by now, officers rarely face the same severity of punishments as “mundane” citizens, even though their reported crimes are far worse. This is the reality of Government Privilege.
