Fairfax County Deputy Charged With Sexual Assault of Inmate

A former Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office deputy is facing charges for sexual assault of a jail inmate.
Keith Washington, 47, of Stafford, was charged Tuesday with one count of carnal knowledge of an inmate and one count of sexual battery, Fairfax County police said in a news release.
The investigation began Aug. 13, 2017 after a former inmate said she was sexually assaulted by Washington in December 2016 or January 2017 at the Fairfax County Alternative Incarceration Branch, police said.
Washington was placed on administrative leave immediately after the inmate came forward, the Fairfax Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. He resigned Dec. 14 in lieu of a pending termination.
Fairfax police obtained warrants for Washington on Tuesday morning and he immediately turned himself in. He is being held without bond and will be transferred to another jurisdiction’s jail, police said.
