CARACAS — Violent insurrection continues to erupt in Venezuela and the latest footage to emerge online shows national guardsmen using armored vehicles to run over anti-government demonstrators.
The anti-government faction says they are sick of political and financial corruption ruining their country.
They are no longer protesting but calling for full blown rebellion in the streets, which has prompted police and the national guard to respond with a greater level of force.
Anti-government demonstrators can be seen in the video hurling fire bombs at the armored vehicles.
At one point an armored vehicle can be seen driving directly into the demonstrators and running over at least one of them.
RT reports:
President Nicolás Maduro has intensified a crackdown on civil unrest as the ongoing political crisis deepens. At least 36 people have lost their lives since the demonstrations spiralled into violence in April.
Venezuelans have been suffering months of food shortages and soaring prices.
On Thursday eight Latin American nations – Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico and Paraguay – condemned the violence and urged the government to respect the human rights of its citizens.
