Madison County Sheriff’s Investigator Charged with Sexual Abuse

Long-time Madison County Sheriff’s Office investigator Roland Campos was arrested Friday and charged with first-degree sexual abuse, WHNT reported.

Madison County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Michael Salomonsky, who serves as commander of the criminal investigations division, declined to release information on the arrest to AL.com on Saturday afternoon.

He said details on the investigation will be released on Monday.

Jail records show Campos, 63, is charged with four counts of sexual abuse in the first degree. He was released from the Madison County Jail on Saturday after posting $10,000 bond.

Campos’ son, also named Roland, was sentenced to two terms of life in prison without parole in 2014 for sodomizing a 5-year-old girl while he was reportedly dating the victim’s mother.

The investigator’s brother, Russell Leland Campos, was charged with two counts of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12 in 2011. Those charges were dropped in 2014 when the alleged victim in the case was unable to testify due to the “ongoing effects of psychological trauma.”
