Michigan State Trooper Arrested and Charged With Distributing Child Pornography

Arrested when he reported for duty, a Michigan State Police trooper is facing felony charges involving child pornography.

Devin Wilson, 26, who worked from the state police Hart Post, was arraigned Friday in Newaygo County District Court, on charges of possession of child sexually abusive material, distribution of child sexually abusive material and use of a computer in the commission of a felony.

In a written statement on the charges, the state police said the arrest resulted from an investigation of tips received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The investigation was conducted as a joint operation of the state police Computer Crimes Unit and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

When he was arrested, investigators also searched Wilson’s residence. He was placed on unpaid suspension pending the outcome of the criminal case.

Wilson had enlisted with the department in 2012.
