Wisconsin Police Officer Charged With Sexual Assault of 3 Children

TOWN OF ROME, Wis. – A former emergency medical technician and police officer was charged this week in Adams County with sexual assault of a child.

Jacob Swiedarke, 31, of Port Edwards, was charged Wednesday on several counts, including two counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child under the age of 13, according to court documents.

On Dec. 6, a town of Rome police officer received a report of the sexual assault of a 4-year-old girl, according to a criminal complaint.

According to the complaint, the incidents happened between October 2012 and April 2013 in the town of Rome and involved a girl with whom Swiedarke was acquainted.

Swiedarke is also facing a charge of first-degree sexual assault of a child under the age of 13 for sexually assaulting the same 4-year-old girl at his Port Edwards home on Sept. 10, according to court documents from Wood County. That charge was filed on Sept. 14.

Four other charges, including two counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child under the age of 13, were filed against Swiedarke in Wood County on Oct. 5.

According to that criminal complaint, Swiedarke also sexually assaulted two girls, ages 8 and 9, on Sept. 10 at his Port Edwards home. Swiedarke was acquainted with both of the girls.

The girls told officials Swiedarke paid them after the incidents, according to the complaint.

Swiedarke is a former police officer for the Adams County town of Rome. He resigned in 2015, town of Rome Police Chief Jason Lauby told News 3. Lauby said Swiedarke worked for the department from 2012-2015.

Swiedarke was suspended from his job with Spirit Ambulance in Stevens Point, according to the Tribune.

Swiedarke was released Wednesday on a $2,500 cash bond for the Adams County charges.

Swiedarke was also charged in September and October on similar charges in Wood County. He is charged with sexually assaulting three children under the age of 10, according to the Stevens Point Journal.
