GRETNA — Gretna Police Deputy Chief Anthony Christiana said Tuesday that an officer with Gretna Police who was involved in a disturbing child pornography was arrested Monday (Aug 17) in Plaquemines Perish and has been suspended without pay.
According to the Sheriff’s office, Ronald Dale Black is 60 years old and was an officer with the Gretna Police Department’s court security division at the time he was arrested.
Dale Black stays at 750 block of Martin Lane in Port Sulphur.
Reports coming from Sheriff’s Office in Plaquemines accounts that Black shared a video online with an undercover Plaquemines detective that portrayed a girl, between 4 to 6 years old, having sexual intercourse with an adult man.
Black worked with the Gretna Police Department for about 10 years.
Black’s job in the Gretna courthouse required him watching the screening process of the x-ray machines, Christiana explained.
Black was charged with inappropriate sexual behavior with a 6-year-old child in Plaquemines back in July 2014.
During the investigation period by the Plaquemines Sheriff Office, Black was not arrested.
Plaquemines Sheriff Office made the results of the investigation available to the Office of the Plaquemines District Attorney while the prosecutors presented the case to a parish grand jury, the Plaquemines Sheriff’s Office explained.
According to the Plaquemines Sheriff’s Office, the grand jury failed to return an indictment.
The jury had met on September 24, the Plaquemines District Attorney Charles Ballay said.
Black was placed on administrative leave without pay in July 2014 by the Gretna Police Department.
The department had called him back to work when the grand Jury refused to file charges against him, Christiana said Tuesday.
Christiana said, “We kept in constant contact with the Plaquemines Sheriff’s Office and he remained on suspension until a no true bill was returned.”
